do this as it was rather a responsibility to undertake the design when I had no former experience in this work.

I would ask you therefore to examine the drawings and specification and let me know by cable if they are suitable addporrect . It is of the utmost importance that the contract for the superstructure be let as soon as possible

to enable the contractor to order timber etc. If there is nothing therefore in the designs necessitating a serious alteration please cable me to that effect so that the work

may be put up for tender. Any minor suggestions which would not cause a claim to be made by the contractor can be

sent by letter.

18. These types have been agreed to by Mr.Grove for the Chire se Section, he will be ordering similar carriages.

I send by this mail a drawing of what I propose for a workshop and running shed combined. I also send a

short description of same with a list of proposed plant for your examination and report.

I brought the matter of the ordering of the iron- work for this workshop up at a Railway Meeting held on 2nd February 1909 I suggested that the work of supply and erection be let to one of the local firms of whom there are several

who would be willing to tender. There would be a saving of time and it is almost certain of money by this as advantage could be taken of the cheap local labour for the manufacture

of the roof principals, etc. from the raw material which

only would have to be imported. This suggestion was agreed

to by His Excellency provided no objections were raised at

Home so I am having detailed drawings made for the work, so
